Lazio Region Region
The Lazio Region is the most densely populated region of Italy. It is situated between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Apennine Mountains on Italy's west coast.
Lazio is dominated by the historical city of Rome, one of the world's premiere tourist destinations. Vatican City, home to the Catholic Church, is a city state geographically situated within the Lazio region. Each year, millions of pilgrims visit the Vatican.
